In some countries the elderly are put into nursing homes rather than being taken care of by their family Do you see this is a positive or a negative development

Nowadays, the aged people normally are sent to retirement homes instead of look after by their relatives. Some people believe this is a positive development and I totally agree that aged people could benefit more in retirement homes. In this essay, I will discuss the benefits.

The main reason why I think retirement homes are better is because aged people are taking care by licenced nurses and doctors in the retirement homes. Many people may think they have given the elderly the best care, but scientists show that sometimes incorrect care may be the cause unhealthy. Licenced nurses and doctors, on the other hand, could give elderly professional attention also tailored care for every individual.

Another reason is that, in retirement homes, there are only elderly peers which could keep them company. It is true that most people living in an apartment which makes hard for them to meet neighbours. Therefore, if elderly are living at home they might spend a whole day alone since most adults are out busy working.

The last reason is that the retirement homes usually have better environment and facilities that special design for elderly to use. Retirement homes mostly located far away from the city centre. So it will be quieter and more peaceful for them to spend the rest of their life. Also, facilities are created to be best suitable for them in order to encourage them to do exercise and socialize with others.

In conclusion, I totally agree that aged people could benefit more at retirement homes. Not only because of the professional nurses/doctors, but also because they could have fun with peers. Of course, environment and facilities are also an essential reason why elderly should be send to retirement homes.
