The table shows data about changes in kinds of transport in England during 15 years from 1985. Overall, all modes of travel increased enormously within this period.

The leader transport of average distance per person annually was car which rose rapidly from just under 3200 miles to above 4800 miles. Having the same trend with car, train climbed considerably per year and reached to 366 miles per person in 2000. Taxi and long distance bus also improved quickly but the average distances were still at the low levels.

Local bus had an impressive average distance in the year 1985 but this mode dropped nearly 50 percent, stopped at approximately 275 miles each person. Walking was quite popular in 1985 with 255 miles travelled per year, however, it decreased slightly after 15 years. Falling from 51 to 41 in miles, bicycle stayed at the lowest position of average distance.

Finally, other kinds of vehicles had an remarkable rise contributing to the huge increase of all modes by nearly 2000 miles travelled per person yearly.
