The stipulated bar diagram illustrates yearly rentals and sales of movies in different formats from a specific store in a period of 8 years, from 2002 to 2011. The mentioned parameters are rentals, VHS sales, DVD sales, Blu-ray sales.
It is clear from the data that, rentals were very high during the initial period of 2002 and accounted for almost 185,000, but the following years the figures were declined. From its 2002 figures, it was declined to 140,000 in 2007 before hitting the all time low rental figure of 50000 in 2011. whereas, DVD sales showed a gradual growth right from the beginning. Started off with below 50,000 sales and reached it's peak sale in 2007, registered over 200,000 sales. From 2008 onwards the sale of DVD's showed a continues slight drop till 2011.
On the other hand, VHS sales showed a decreasing trend right from 2002. The sale was 85,000 in 2002, which gradually dropped to just 10,000 over a 4 years time and its been out of the market since then. On the contrary, a new format Blue- ray had been appeared in the market in 2007. It's sales witnessed a whopping upward trend, from 1000 in 2007 to 11,0000 within just over a four years of time.
In conclusion, it is evident from the data that, the sale of films in all format was lost it's popularity over the period of time. Even-though the sale of DVD's witnessed some growth, eventually its sales was also dropped.
