The diagram below shows the production of electricity using a system called Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion (OTEC).Write a report for a university lecturer describing the information below.

The chart depicts the information about how the electricity being generated using Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion or OTECO technology. For this process both warm and cold water being used, sea water temperature may rise as much 29 degree celsius and fall as low as 5 degree celsius depending up on the depth.

The system has mainly three components, evacuated evaporation chamber, turbine and condensing chamber. Firstly warm water is heated using solar energy, then it enters in to the evacuated evaporation chamber. From there water is being boiled and creates water vapor and salt. This vapor then passed through a tube where the turbine is fixed and these vapor turns the turbine blades to generate electricity.

In the next stage, this evaporated unsalted water goes to the condensing chamber via a tube. Inside of this chamber, the evaporated water being condensed using the cold water intake from the sea. As a result of this process this unsalted water now become converted in to drinking water after it's initial use. At the end, the waste salt which is derived as a result of this process disposed back to the sea to start the process all over again.

In conclusion, using OTECO system for energy production is a great solution to the todays energy deficiency problem. But the only thing the process is somewhat complex one.
