Firstly, the moth lays its egg on the leaf, then it take about 10 days until turn to silk worm (larva) that feed on mulberry leaves. By passing 4-6 days, the larva covers its body through producing silk thread and up to 3-8 days it thoroughly changes to a cocoon. In case of following the life cycle, the fresh moth emerges out of cocoon after 16 days.
When it comes to the stage of production of silk cloth, it is needed to select the appropriate cocoons and they are poured to a container filled with water. It is heated until it stat to boiling. Then, it is the exact time regarding unwinding and approximately 300-900 meter thread is obtained out of each cocoon. The thread should be twisted, after that they are prepared for dyeing. On the other hand, the twisted silk thread could be weaved and then they are dyed with particular materials.
To sum up, it i distinctively manifest that it takes over 10 weeks for preparation of a cocoon that is suitable for silk cloth production.
