The graph below shows the demand for electricity in England during typical days in winter and summer. The pie chart shows how electricity is used in an average English home.

The chart depicts information regarding the electricity consumption in UK on an average day during winter and summer seasons. Whereas, the diagram stipulates details about for what purpose this electricity is being used.

It is clear from chart that electricity use was very high during winter season and was almost double the figures of summer consumption. The power usage was comparatively low between the hours of 6 to 9 which was 31000 units of electricity. After that it showed a steep rise till the 21 hours, where the consumption reached its peak point of 49000 units. At the end usage was drastically reduced to 34000 just after 3 hours of peak time.

On there hand, summer usage is comparatively low as compared to former. The power intake was low (12000 units) during the time of 6 to 9 hours just like the winter season. Interesting point to note that, during the hours of 13 and 23, the UK residents consumed same units (20000) of electricity. Also that was the hight of that season. But after this time the intake pattern showed a declining trend.

It is evident from the diagram that major portion of the winter electricity was consumed for heating rooms and water (52.5%) followed by vacuum cleaners, food mixers, electric tools. While almost same proportion of power (15%) was used for kitchen equipments like ovens and kettles and electronic devices like TV and radio.

In conclusion, UK residents consumed more electricity during winter season due to the extreme weather condition and the larger portion of this electricity was consumed for heating requirements.
