The bar chart illustrates how the price of a cup of coffee changed in six different cities between 2010 and 2014 in Australia. Overall, the coffee price in Melbourne experienced the biggest change; in contrast to Brisbane where the price was the same over the period.

Melbourne’s coffee price saw the biggest rise of 20.8%. In 2010, a cup of coffee only cost 2.4 dollars. However, after just four years, the price increased by 0.5 dollars; and consequently, it cost up to 2.9 dollars to buy coffee in Melbourne in 2014.

In comparison, Sydney placed second at 13,2% where the price of a cup of coffee rose to 3.17 dollars from 2.9 dollars between 2010 and 2014. This is followed by Perth, Adelaide at around 7% where the coffee costs grew to 2.25 dollars and 2 dollars, respectively. Over the same period, the percentage of Canberra was lowest, at 6.25% with the increase of 0.2 dollars to 1.7 dollars.

Compared with other cities, Brisbane was the only city which recorded no change in its coffee price. To be specific, Brisbane people paid 2.25 dollars to buy coffee in 2010 and the price was constant in the following four years.
