The table we are given indicates the number of visits to the UK by foreigners in five different years.

The number of visits to the UK increased about 2.7 times from 1975 (9.5 million) to 1998 (25.7 million). Visits for leisure is nearly four times as much as for business in 1975, whereas this difference is lower in all remained years. Total by North American and other residents is the same in 1998. On the other hand, the information the table gives shows the gap between North American and Western Europe visitors is 12 million in 1998, despite that this is 4 million in 1975.

Generally, the great change had taken place until 1996. By contrast, the rate of increasing grew down from 1996 and we see decreasing in the number of visiting for leasure, EU and Western European and other residents.
