I totally disagree with the statement, economic growth is the backbone of the country and comes with economic development.
Poverty can only be eliminated if the individual will grow. With economic growth no. of children going to school will also increase.
We can develop any nation or state by keeping various factors on top.
Yes, some projects hamper environment like cutting of trees, disturbance in protected areas. Animals also suffer from interference of human beings in there home. But with strict rules and fines policy, we can manage the development scale wherever it is necessary.
With the increase in population, we need to feed people and also to take there help to build the strong economy nation.
We can use renewable resources to generate electricity and take about non-renewable for future generation.
