Increasing the price of petrol is the best way to solve growing traffic and pollution problems. To what extend do you agre or disagree? What other measures do you think might be effective?

To regulate growing traffic and to reduce pollution problems is today’s world’s one of the widespread problems that affects every human being. Obviously, some countries tend to increase the price of petrol therefore to tackle aforementioned challenges. Whether this policy worth practicing or not we need to take a closer view on it.

In case of increasing the price of petrol, it is clear that, impoverished people are less likely to afford to use their private cars. Therefore this policy is likely to diminish the amount of private cars and people will prefer public transportation. For example, a bus which is in the capacity of holding 30 people can substitute 30 individuals who use their private cars and people, society as well as environment will benefit from this policy.

Nevertheless, we have to take into account that, increasing the price of petrol will affect only poor people. For instance, this policy is less likely to affect a person whose car costs more than one hundred thousand dollars. In addition, it is undeniable fact that, agriculture is one of main factors of the development of the economy of country and increasing the price of petrol will create a number of setbacks for them. For example, last year our government increased the price of petrol twofold and rich people still use their private cars and people working in agricultural sphere do not intend to carry their products from region to region due to the sky-high petrol.

In conclusion, taking the above mentioned reasons into account I think that governments rather than increasing the price of petrol they should provide other alternative solutions, such as increasing taxes for dirt cheap cars or impose restrictions on bringing old cars to the country in a way to prevent growing traffic and to decrease pollution problems,
