TPO-34 - Integrated Writing Task A huge marine mammal known as Steller’s sea cow once lived in the waters around Bering Island off the coast of Siberia. It was described in 1741 by Georg W. Steller, a naturalist who was among the first Europeans to see

The reading passage asserts the fact that the Steller's sea cow lived in the waters around the coast of Siberia has decreased. There are three reasons is mentioned in the reading passage which indicate main cause of the its extinction, In contrast, the profeesor presents some evidence to repute all of the reasons which presented in the reading passage.
First of all, the reading passage argues the fact that one of the main causes of sea cows' extermination is that sea cows overhunted by cluster of native Siberian people. On the other hand, the professor states this fact that the sea cows is massive and creatures which is long and its weight is about 10 tons. The sea cows were living in the small village for months. Because of this matter, it is unlikely to overhunted by native people of Siberia.
Second of all, another equally main reasons of its extinction is by ecosystems disturbances. Conversely, the lecture brings up this fact that if ecosystems changes occurred near the 1768, it is not effected to other species which lived there. For example, the wales and fish lived at that time to those area and it is not reported decreasing in the its populations. Thus, this evidence shows that the ecosystems changes couldn't be effect on the sea cows's population and its diet out.
Finally, the author of the reading passage illustrates the fact that latest reason which causes of extinction of the sea cows could have been European fur traders who came to the island after 1741. On the contrary, the lecture reveals the fact that European traders came to the island, the population of sea cows decrease. In fact, the population of sea cows is quite small and old largest before 1741. Moreover, the population of sea cows couldn't decrease before European came to the island and this matter could't be effect on extinction of sea cows' populations.
