The passage states that hail storm brings about a lot of problems for the cultivated crops in some regions of United states. cloud seeding is preventive method to overcame and eliminate hail storms in order to protect crops. The author provides three evidences to confirm cloud seeding as a beneficial approach. however, the lecturer casts doubt on all the claims.

First, the writers claims that the laboratory experiments endorse the effectiveness of cloud seeding. The professor challenges this reason by saying that silver iodide, which is the chemical used for cloud seeding, leads to complete elimination of any precipitaion so the crops will be damaged because of water depriviation.

Second, the passage states that there are some regions in the Asia which have utilized this method successfully. however, the lecturer argues that Asian regions were urban and the pollution of the urban areas in a helpful condition for cloud seeding due to the possible interaction with chemicals and the clouds. Therefore, the condition of farming areas are completely different and it might not work.

Third, the writer avers that local studies show a considerable decline in hail storms within the previous years. The professor claims that the decrease in hailstorms is because of climate variation not just cloud seeding of some local areas. Furthermore, decrease of hail storms has been seen in other distant areas from the sudied regions as well.
