The reading passage claims that there are several arguments which large pterosaurs were not capable of powered flight. However, the lecturer casts serious doubts on this claim by presenting counter-arguments and examples. She believes that non of these proofs are convincing.

On the first place, She contends that pterosaurs had high metabolism by evidence that discover from their fossils, thus like other warm-blooded animals their body covered by dens hair coloring due to keep their body temperature high also made them warm, therefore they could supply energy in order to fly. This, however, is contradicted to the reading passage mentions that ancient reptiles such as pterosaurs were probably cold-blooded and unable to produce a lot of energy.

On the other hand, it is noted in the passage that pterosaurs were so heavy that they would not have been able to flat their wings. In contrast the professor states that base on the anatomical body gesture of pterosaurs, they unusually had low weight due to their bones structured hollow instead of solid shape, as consequence maybe they have large body though they had low weight, by this advance they flap their wings conveniently and fly.

Finally, the speaker points out that birds and pterosaurs are really different from each other thanks to birds have 2 legs, hence when they want to fly they push on 2 legs despite pterosaurs had 4 limbs additionally they pushed these 4 limbs on the ground, so they did not face to any trouble during jumping or running. Nonetheless, the text asserts that large pterosaurs had small and weak muscles which did not allow them to run fast or jump enough to launch themselves into the air.
