Both passages refer to communal online encyclopedias, which are internet based encyclopedias that cover a broad spectrum of subjects and anyone contribute in its content. The reading states its flaws, while the listening contradicts the reading's arguments.

As referred in the reading, the ability for anyone to contribute has as result to deform the content in many subjects, making it inaccurate and misleading for the reader. However, according to the aural passage an encyclopedia can never be accurate, but the mistakes can be corrected easier online rather than on a printed copy.

Secondly, another issue with online encyclopedia has is that it is vulnerable to online attacks, that might change or delete valuable information. The lecturer contradicts that statement, claiming that many measures have been inflicted in order to deal with that problem. More specifically the most crucial and reliable parts are in a read only format, thus one cannot change their content. Moreover, there are special editors, whose goal is to prevent online attacks.

Finally, the space distribution of each event is essential in order to be informed properly about its importance according to the passage. The listening, supports that, the ability to project a great variety of different events is one of the greatest advantages that online encyclopedia provides. In addition, traditional encyclopedias state only the view of their authors.
