However, professor contradicts that idea by refusing those reasons in the lecture.

While, according to the lecture, this issue exaggerated and, on contrary, the fossils collections are more available by the collector. It explains that the fossils are sold by the collectors so that the institutions like schools and libraries can buy them for showing to the public.
