Postdoctoral position and graduate student Research Assistant-ships in bioinformatics

One postdoctoral position is available in the Laboratory for Bioinformatics and Computational Systems Biology (LBCSB) at the University of South Dakota (USD). The lab also has graduate Research Assistantships available for PhD students. The research projects of the Laboratory for Bioinformatics and Computational Systems Biology at USD are within the general areas of bioinformatics, computational systems biology, biological big data mining, comparative genomics, and functional genomics. Current research in the lab involves the development and application of new algorithms and computational methods for analyzing high-throughput and large-scale biological data, including various omics data obtained from next-generation sequencing platforms.

Both postdoc and graduate students have opportunity to collaborate with biologists and computer scientists. Graduate students will be trained in a multidisciplinary environment and have opportunity to obtain degrees in either biology or computer science, or both.

The ideal candidate for postdoctoral position should have PhD degree in a quantitative discipline (Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or similar one) or bioinformatics, or degrees in biology, life science, or biomedical science with rigorous training or experience in quantitative discipline/bioinformatics. Experience in the analysis of high-throughput omics data is a plus.

Candidates with background in either computer science or biology are encouraged to apply for the graduate student research assistantship.
