Essay topics:

The bar chart below shows the top ten countries for the production and consumption of electricity in 2014.
Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The following bar chart provides some information about ten countries which produced and consumed the highest amount of electricity in 2014.
As can be clearly observed from the bar chart, top-ten electricity consumers and producers can be divided into two distinctive classes based on the difference between consumption and production. The first group includes China, Russia, Germany, and Korea Rep which produced approximately as many billion kWh of electricity as their consumption. For example, China as the number one country in either electricity production and consumption, produced 5,398 billion kWh and consumed 5,322 billion kWh electrical energy. The same pattern can be seen in consumption and production of Korea Rep, the last country in the rank, in 2014, by 449.5 billion kWh and 485.1 billion kWh, respectively.
On the other hand, the second group consists of US, Japan, India, Canada, France, and Brazil that are placed in third to the 8th position in a row excluding US as the second position. These countries produced significantly more electricity than they consumed in 2014. Despite the fact that US electricity production was about 4,099 billion kWh in 2014, Brazil produced around 530.7 billion kWh at the same year. The electricity production of India was far more than its consumption with 871 billion kWh versus 698.8 billion kWh.
It is clear from the bar chart that unlike Germany which its electricity consumption took over its production, other nine countries produced more electricity that they consumed in 2014.
