Essay topics:

The chart gives information about European people of different age groups who went to the gym once a month or more between 1990 and 2010.

The given chart illustrates the proportion of young and old people in Europe, who exercised occasionally at the gym during the 20-year period, from 1990 to 2010.

In 1990, the ratio of men and women in the age group of 25-34 going to the gym was around 9%, claiming the first place of all age groups. Over the 20-year period, the figure rose significantly by 41% to peak at 50%. Coming in close second in 1990 at below 9%, the percentage of young people, aging 18-24, climbed up steadily in the first 8 years, meeting the ratio of 25-34 group at around 29% in 1998, then continued to surpass dramatically to reach the record high of 59% in 2010, despite a plunk to 50% in 2008.

While both starting at around 5% in the beginning, the 35-44 group's rate increased at a faster pace than 45 and over group to reach the number of 40% in 2010, higher by 19% compared to the rate of 45 and over group.

Overall, the percentage of people from all age groups going to the gym experienced a growth throughout the 20-year surveyed period.
