Should smoking be banned?

Smoking is a very serious issue in today`s culture and life. Smoking should be banned or not is discussed worldwide daily. This habit usually begins at school. Cigarette contains nicotine which is known to cause cancer. Despite the warnings given by doctors about the ill-effects of smoking, people continue to smoke. Many people believe that smoking should not be allowed in public places. Most of people want banning of smoking in public areas. They think smoking not only leads to health problems for the smoker, but also for people close by. People who breathe in other people’s smoke are called passive-smokers. Passive-smokers can develop cancers of the lungs, mouth and throat, and other sites in the body they are attacked by this poison due to active-smokers. On the other hand growing tobacco plants is also harmful to the environment. Because during their growth companies use huge quantities of pesticides. It also causes fat deposits on every part of our body which lead to heart attacks. It is ironic that there are some people against it they assert individuals should have the freedom to smoke where they wish. There are also negative sides of the banning smoking. Firstly tobacco industry also employs ten thousands of people all over the world, particularly in poorer countries, with banning or reducing smoking they can lose their job. Secondly the smoking ban can destroy pub and café trade. Thirdly some people think that smoking is a helpful to reduce the stress, to relax. For some, it even improves concentration.

In conclusion, there are many people both for and against it. Despite the fact that disadvantages of cigarette outweigh advantages, some people think banning is not appropriate decision. But I strongly believe that it should be ban to smoke in public places.
