Needless to say, English is one of the most used languages in the world. This is because, it is a global language therefore it is extremely important for everyone to learn it. However, preserving local languages is also crucial to keep a culture alive.

Nowadays, due to advancement in technology, world became a global village, and for that, people want a single language to communicate, which could be English. Presently, most of the international business deals are written and signed in English language. To illustrate that, a study conducted by the University of London shows that, 80% of international companies and their businesses are connected using English. Furthermore, these days, majority of mulinational corporations require English as mandatory language for their employees. For example, Google hiring only those candidates who are competent in English language. Therefore, it is necessery, people should learn English language to survive in this world in a better way indeed.

Preservation of local languages from the risk of dying out is also important to keep the culture alive for the upcomming generations. A vernacular gives modern people a window to the past, and this encourages worldwide understanding of that particular culture. It is believed that without a mother language it is extremely tough to know about the traditions of that area, such as, foods, clothes and many more. Moreover, a language also give a person his/her unique identity in the world. For instance, a person who is speaking Punjabi will always belong to Punjab.

In conclusion, although, English is the highest used language in the world because it is a global language, but local languages are also equally important to keep the civilization alive for future generations. In my view, people should learn both English and their respective local dialect for their development and perserving their cultures respectively.
