Motivational Letter

Everyone is unique. That was the first thing I knew when I learned psychology in my very first time. Human’s uniqueness and disparity among them are needed to form a constellation of harmony and one peaceful life for every human being. When people asked me about the most thing I want to achieve in life, I told them that my eagerness is about to help my kin and everyone around me. It might sound cliché, but frankly said that nothing define my happiness than being a helpful person, seeing someone smiles because of me.

Before I help others, I need to understand them first and so do myself. As I try to apprehend my anxiety and depression symptoms during my high school years, I read some psychology books and journal. And from that very moment, I realize that psychology field is my open wide path to seek for an understanding and an enlightening. My curiosity for psychology is increasing by time as I meet different people every day.

Choosing psychology as my major degree is one of my best decisions in my life. It is enable me to see the vibrant of human psychological conditions. There are so many approaches in psychology, and my interest is cognitive and clinical psychology. I believe that human’s uniqueness is laid on their cognitive approaches, and its tangible evidence shows in human’s brain. I recognize that it is perception, attention and cognitive style define my anxiety and my depression, and the same way for other mental disorders.

As I came from Indonesia, the fourth most populated country in the world. The number of people who suffer mental illness and cognitive disorder is increasing year by year. This fact inspires me to understand more and dig dipper about those problems from cognitive neuroscience psychological perspective. However, there is no course or degree course which is specialize in this area.

My undergraduate thesis is about how elderly regulate their emotion and its effect for their positive emotion. From what I understand based on my research that human’s cognitive style is one of the most significant factor for emotion. It is also my inspiration to gain further understanding cognitive style and human’s emotions. When I saw NCP program on the internet with advance technology and sophisticated systems that LMU offers, I think this is a great chance for me to study this field.

One of my career inspirations is to become a lecturer and share my knowledge in my previous university. As my lecturers once asked me to come back if one day I succeeded gain my master or doctoral degree. It was really inspired me and i feel honored to serve my alma mater. Moreover, I want to grow an interest with cognitive neuroscience. I have a biggest dream that one day there will be a NCP degree course in my country.

As my preparation I challenge myself to learn some books and journals related to NCP. Hence cognitive disorders is increasing day by day, It is my one of my priority to read article and news related to this. I also joined online course Fundamental Neuroscience from Harvard. Meanwhile, I am studying German language in my very moment as one of the most crucial tools to easy my study in Germany.
