The graph shows six main reasons why British adults visited the Internet in 2001.
It is clear from the bar chart that the majority of adults in England went to the Internet for mailing purpose. Additionally, while games were more popular among male adults, health research and commercial (consumer) were cited by mostly female users.
In addition, while nearly 40% of British males played games when they went online, the gaming figure for female users were lower, at only 20%. By contrast, 40% of female adults used the Internet for healthcare research, whereas around 20% of males had the same purpose. Like wise, commercial (consumer) was cited by 60% of females, while this rate for the other gender was lower, at roughly 40%.
It is interesting to note that almost every British adults used the Internet because of Email. Meanwhile, banking and commercial (vendor) were equally popular among both sexes, at 40% and 20% respectively.
