UTS offers the Diversity Access Scholarship Program to assist students from low socio-economic backgrounds who may also be experiencing other forms of educational disadvantage which make it difficult to achieve their educational goals.
Value and Duration: This scholarship is valued at between $600 and $2500 per semester, with a maximum duration of two semesters.
Who is Eligible: Applicants must be able to demonstrate financial hardship in one of two ways:
- by providing proof of receiving a means-tested Commonwealth income support payment (such as Austudy, ABSTUDY, Youth Allowance etc.), OR
- by providing comprehensive information demonstrating exceptional financial hardship.
In Addition to this, Basic Eligibility Includes:
- Australian citizenship or permanent residency status
- Enrolment at UTS in a minimum of 18 credit points unless exceptional circumstances apply, such as long-term medical condition or disability, and/or sole parent or carer responsibilities.

Selection Process: UTS will generally award scholarships to students who demonstrate financial hardship in combination with other educational disadvantages such as:
- Sole parent responsibilities
- Carer responsibilities
- Rural or regional disadvantage
- Long-term medical condition or disability
- Indigenous Australian
- Refugee background
