The bar chart below shows the comparasion among Japan, USA and other countries in global hybrid vehicle sales between 2006 and 2009. Japan was the most improvement country that moved from the lowest position in 2006 to the highest position in 2009.

To begin with, Japan was rose dramatically year by year from 50.000 (2006), 60.000 (2007), 75.000 (2008), and peaked at 345.000 in the end of 2009. Besides, growth trend of Japan was leading Japan to the highest rank among other countries in 2009.
