The bar chart shows the percentage of the total world population in four countries in 1950 and 2002, and projections for 2050.

Given a column chart comparing four nations in term of the proportion of the global population in two years 1950 and 2002, and also a prediction for 2050.

Overall, what stands out from the chart is that there was an upward trend in the proportion of the global population in India, whereas the other three countries saw the opposite trend in their rate of population. Additionally, it is predicted that India will become the most crowded nation in the future.

Looking at the details, in 1950, China has the proportion of nearly a quarter in the total of world population, making it the highest figure among the four nations. The figure for India was much lower with 15%, while that for the USA and Japan were 7% and 3% respectively. In 2003, the rate of the population in China decreased significantly to a fifth of the global population, whilst India’s figure witnessed a slight rise to around 17%. The figures for the USA and Japan also decreased slightly to 5% and 2% in turn.

In 2050, it is projected that the population rate of China will continuously go down to 15%, while that of India will increase steadily to nearly 20%, making it the highest figure compared to other nations. The population of the USA will remain stable at 5% and the figure for Japan will diminish considerably to roughly 2% of the global population.
