The char below shows the percentage of whole world population in four countries from 1950 to 2000, with projections till 2050. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.

The column graph illustrates the statistic of population of world’s four countries named India, China, the USA and Japan between 1950 and 2000, and also indicates predication for 2050.
Overall, it is clearly seen that China had highest percentage of world population in 1950 and 2000. However, estimates show that India will take the lead by 2050. Japan had the least population in the given period, and count of citizen is expected to decrease to approximately 3% by 2050.
It is manifest that China’s population was just over a quarter of the world’s population in 1950. It reduced gradually to slight under quarter but it was still at first position. It is estimated that the population of China will continue to drop and would reach to approximately 19% by 2050. India was second highest in 1950 and 2000 with 15% and around 18% population of the world respectively. It is predicted that India will cross 20% in 2050. When it comes to the population of the USA and Japan, both showed decline from 1950 to 2000. It is estimated that the percentage will remain same in the USA, whereas in Japan, the population will keep falling till 2050.
