Throughout the next 40 years, these figures dropped significantly, reaching 28% and 12% respectively. In contrast, the 25-to-30-year-olds experienced a slight rise from 35% to 38%, despite a high of 50% in 1986.
In terms of remaining age groups, there were about 12% of women aged 30-34, in comparison with nearly 8% of those aged 34-39. During the following 40 years, the percentage of people falling into the 30-34 and 34-39 age brackets peaked to end the period, at approximately 45% and 30% respectively. Notably, about 3% of women aged over 40 gave birth at the first time. By 2006, this figure climbed to about 5%, despite a slight decrease in 1986.
