The bar chart gives information about the household ownings and accommodation in England and Wales from 1918 to 2011. Overall, it is seen that the average proportion spent in owned rose while that of rented decreased during the period.

In more detail, in 1918 saw the lowest portion of owned amount. On average, just over 20% of owned accommodate households stood in 1918. The figure raised dramatically through the years til 2001, of less than 70% of owned households. It then declined to just three in five of owned households in 2011.
Turning to look at the rented households, the highest figure reached the peak to almost 80% in 1918. Later in the following years (1939 to 1971), the percentage dropped noticeably to the proportion of one half in 1971, which shared the same level of that of owned households in the same year. Starting in 1981, the amount fell down the hill, of just more than one third of rented in 2001. Fortunately, until 2011, the amount slightly climbed to less than 40%.
