The graph demonstrates the change in using types of household from 1919 to 2011 in England and Wales.

It is such a significant point that before 1971, most city dwellers originally had enjoyed living in rented houses. However, then after they had gradually switched to owning personal accommodation until 2011.

Looking at the chart in more details, in 1918, the figure of households in rented accommodation being 80% was four times as high as this one in owned accommodation, just 20%. Over the next 43 years, more and more residents had preferred to live in owning houses than renting accommodation. Gradually, until 1971, the percentage of 2 types were similarly being 50%.

Between 1981 and 2001, the less decreased in rented accommodation, the more increased in owned house, at about 32% and 68% respectively. After 2001, although both rented and owned houses were fluctuate slightly, British and Wales households had a tendency to live in owning accommodation.
