In 2003, a little over 30% of Americans were eating out once a week. This figure slightly rose to about 33% in 2006, before dropping to around 27% 7 years later. In contrast, 30% of Americans were dining out in 2003, before experiencing a decline and then a sharp rise to about 33% a decade later.

On the other hand, only about 15% of Americans ate at fast food joints several times a week in 2003. This increased to 20% a few years later, before dropping back down to roughly the same value as it was before, in 2013. Likewise, about 12% of Americans ate out a few times a year in 2003. This figure rose to and remained at 15% from 2006 to 2013. Those who ate at fast food restaurants every day or never at all remained at just under 5% within the given time period.
