The pie charts illustrate the medium proportions of three unhealthy nutrients, namely sodium, saturated fat and added sugar contained in typical meals of American citizens. Overall, it can be clearly seen that the USA people consume most of the sodium and saturated fat in dinner; whereas added sugar consumption is mostly from snacks.
The most significant consumptions of sodium and saturated fat are at dinner time, 43% for the former and 37% for the latter. Lunch comes next with 29% for sodium and 26% for saturated fat. It is also noticable that the amount of sodium consumed in breakfast and snacks is the same, 14%. However, there is a lightly higher percentage of saturated fat in snacks than this in breakfast.
On the other hand, the amount of added sugar in snacks accounts for the highest percent of the total, 42%. In the other meals, the level of added sugar does not vary considerably. Dinner accounts for 23%, followed by lunch (19%) and breakfast (16%).
