The graph below gives information from a 2008 report about consumption of energy in the USA since 1980 with projections until 2030.
Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The line graph illustrates the USA’s usage of six sources of power in the 15 years period.
Overall, it can be seen that petrol and oil has stayed consecutively at the dominant role. Beside, the gap between the highest and lowest number - hydropower remains stable during the research.
Regarding petrol and oil, coal and gas, these sectors all have an upward trend. Petrol and oil’s growth is the most remarkable: Starting from 35 quadrillions in 1980, it is predicted to reach the peak at nearly 50 quadrillions in 2030. Coal is an inverse proportion to natural gas. Beginning from 20 quadrillions in the first year, it’s witnessed a slight turbulence until 2015 and seems to be constant around 23 for the next years. Coal had a more significant increase to join natural gas in 2015 and overcome its position to become the second-highest number at 25 quadrillions in 2030.
Concerning the other three, there is a presence of a small fluctuation. All of these factor shared the same starting point at 4 quadrillions. While Hydropower remains its stability relatively, nuclear and solar/wind enhace steadily around five quadrillion. In 2030, the gap between them are predicted to be widened more than before although Hydropower will continuously stay at the bottom of the graph.
