The graph below shows average carbon dioxide emissions per person in the United Kingdom, Sweden, Italy and Portugal between 1967 and 2007.

The given graph below indicates how carbon emission levels changed in 4 European countries in the period from 1967 to 2007 in metric tonnes. As is clear from the infographics, levels of carbon emission displayed erratic behavior. Whereas the United Kingdom and Sweden once dominating followed a downward tendency; Italy and Portugal's CO² emission level experienced the opposite trend.
Carbon dioxide emanation level stood high in the UK at 11 metric tonnes in 1967. In fact, each person in the United Kingdom disсared more Carbon dioxide to the atmosphere among members of four states in the given period. After a relative stability carbon dumping decreased gradually year over year to around 9 metric tonnes in 2007. Meanwhile, the emission level in Sweden stood at 6 metric tonnes per person in 1967, which grew steadily to just over 10 metric tonnes a decade later. Paradoxically, there too CO² levels levelled off to 7 metric tonnes followed by further downfall to roughly 5.5 metric tonnes in 2007.
The per capita CO² production in Italy exceeded 4 metric tonnes in 1967. This figure kept an upward trend almost doubling in 1997 after which it stood static till 2007. Surprisingly, Portugese shared similar pattern in terms of carbon dioxide release. At the beginning of the period the rate of CO² emission in Portugal accounted for 1.5 metric tonnes. However, the CO² level grew more than three times leveling out 5.5 metric tonnes in thirty years' time. This index then remained unchanged with slight reduction until 2007.
