The line graph illustrates the average time to produce a car by four companies in the US over a course of 17 years starting in 1998.
Overall, it is clear that the amount of time of production witnessed a decreasing trend in all factories during the period shown. General Motor had the most notable reduction among these companies.
In 1998, the production time of General Motor was the highest at 32 hours per vehicle, while the number of hours spent on producing a car of Ford was lower at 28 hours. Approximately 22 hours to produce a car were spent by both Toyota and Honda.
By 2005, there was a significant decrease in the amount of producing time per car to 22 hours for General Motor. Meanwhile, the figure for Ford rose slightly at 2001 to 31 hours before falling to 21 hours. By contrast, the manufacturing time of Honda and Toyota was a similar trend, fluctuated throughout the course and ended up at 20 hours per car.
