The given line graph illustrates the levels of the two pollutants namely Sulphur dioxide and smoke in London from 1600 to 2000.
It can be seen that the pollution levels of both pollutants formed a similar pattern during the period and there were always higher levels of Sulphur dioxide than smoke in the atmosphere.
In 1600, the pollution levels were modestly low, but over the next hundred years, the levels of Sulphur dioxide experienced a dramatic increase to about 700 micrograms per cubic meter, while the levels of smoke gradually grew to around 200 micrograms per cubic meter. over the next two hundred years, the levels of these two pollutants continued to rise steadily although there were some fluctuations. Between 1850 and 1900, the levels of Sulphur dioxide and smoke reached a peak of about 900 and 400 micrograms per cubic meter respectively before declining at the end of the period.
Between 1900 and 2000, air pollution became an easier problem in London than it had been in the early 20th century. these pollution figures fluctuated considerably but falling sharply to nearly 0 micrograms per cubic meter.
