This diagram demonstrates variations of average life lengths of people according to their attachment to a certain region or country. The age of 65 an over is allocated as the main criterion for determining whether people in that specific country tend to live long. Period of time which is analysed in this graph is the interval between 1940th and 2040th year. Countries in comparison are Japan, Sweden and USA.

According to the data provided, in the year 1940 Japan had the least percentage of population aged 65 and over (5%), which was almost twice less than in USA. However, it should be noted that this quantity in Japan has started to grow steeply, and after 1 century it ended up at nearly 27% which was the highest in the year 2040, when compared to USA and Sweden. As regards the latter (Sweden), the numbers has always been in the medium level, ranging from 7% to 25%, with the substantial breakaway from US and Japan in the period between 2000 and 2020. Considering USA it would be interesting to indicate its stable growth tendency, as it hasn’t shown rapid growth in the proportion of old aged people, which Japan and Sweden has faced, according to the information.

Eventually, it can be concluded that indicators in all three countries were in the process of sufficient increase throughout the discussed period. Thus, all in all, the number of people aged over 65 has gradually risen, but with different pace and margins in every mentioned country.
