Overall, what stands out from the graph is that over time the amount of recycling grew but after 1985 it increased robustly, while the percentage rose slowly.
To begin with the waste recovery, in 1960, 5.6 million tons waste were recovered, whereas in the following years the amount was increased almost 1 million tons. After, two consecutive years the rising difference was not more than 1. 3 million tons, while in 1957, the total amount was 9.3. In 1985 the value was 16.7 million tons, after that, it began to rise rapidly such as in 1990, the amount was twice than 1985. 55.8 and 69.5 waste was recovered in 1995 and 2000 respectively. In 2011, the waste recovery reached its peak value which was 86. 9 million tons.
Then turning to the percentage first following three years the percentage that remained below 7. In 1975, the value climbed up over 7 and stood at 7.3, after 5 five years, the percent rose only 2.3 percentage. After 1985, the percent increase promptly, in 1995, the value went to twice time higher as the previous decade. Finally, it ended at 34.7 percent.
