With the increasing demand for energy sources such as oil and gas should people looking for sources of oil and gas in remote and untouched places Do the advantages of this outweigh the disadvantages of damaging such areas

It is true that due to the global dependence on non-renewable energy resources, it is suggested that people seek those energies in isolated areas. Despite the obvious advantages of this trend, I would argue that these are outweighed by the disadvantages.

On the one hand, there is one major benefit when people exploring oil and gas in untouched areas which is solving the lacking of fossil fuels. In remote areas, there is an abundance of non-renewable sources. By exploiting those areas, people can use those resources to deal with the global demand for the shortage of oil and gas. For example, the UAE which used to be a desert is now one of the biggest fossil fuels export countries in the world.

On the other hand, I believe that the drawbacks are more significant than the benefit. One reason for that view is the environmental problems of exploiting the energy resources. To exploit the untouched areas, people need to remove barriers such as trees or grasses which can disturb the balance of the eco-system. As the environment is damaged, humans will be the next victim. The pollution created by exploiting sources exerts harmful impacts on humans’ health such as respiratory problems, and digestive disorders, all of which will spread on a large scale and leave far-reaching consequences for the next generation to resolve.

In conclusion, it seems to me that the disadvantages of this searching for fossil fuel in remote areas are more significant than the advantage due to the harmful effects on both the environment and humans.
