The line bar provides information on the quantities of oil produced and consumed in China throughout a time-period of twenty-four years (from 1982 to 2006).
Overall, it becomes clear that there is an enormous discrepancy between the amounts of oil produced to the amounts consumed by the Chinese during the period mentioned above. More specifically, since 1992 an onwards significantly more oil is used by people in China compared to the ratio of oil produced.
In terms of oil consumption, the trajectory of the line fluctuated from time-period to time-period and retained an upward trend. In particular, from 1982 to 1990 oil consumption remained steady at two million oil barrels per day. After that, the trajectory from 1990 stared to rise constantly and peaked at nearly six and a half barrels per day by the end of 2006.
In contrast, the trajectory relating to oil production followed an entirely different trend. From 1982 to 1986 the line grew slightly from two million to three million barrels per day. However, from that point in time and until 2006 the trajectory remained relatively stable.
