the maps below show an art gallery in Australia in 1950 and now

The presented map illustrates how an Australian art gallery has been renovated from 1950 to present.

Overall, the gallery has been transformed significantly over the period. Specifically, while open space was completely eradicated, that for exhibition and entertaining purpose was expanded.

Turning into detail, in 1950, the entrance led directly to sculptures, which were located at the heart of the gallery. In addition, to the right side, galleries for Australian Art, Middle European Art, and Early European Art, respectively, were arranged. Meanwhile, at the opposite area, there was a bookshop, which was adjacent to a temporary exhibition space, and a café. Behind these locations, a courtyard was the only open space in the entire region.

Regarding to the current arrangement, the entrance, sculpture area, rooms for Early European Art, Middle European Art, Bookshop and temporary exhibition region remained. However, the café has been reduced in size to integrate a toilet. In addition, the courtyard has been divided into three counterparts, including an art school for children, a new Australia Aboriginal Art gallery, and the Australian Art room, the previous position of which has been transformed into an Asian Art room.
