The pie charts below illustrates the amount of water consumed for three different targets in North and South America, Europe, South East Asia, Central Asia and Africa.
Overall, unlike four others, Europe and North America were the two areas where water wasn't used mainly for agriculture. Except South America, other surveyed regions didn't utilized large amount of water for domestic purpose.
Looking at the detail, in North America, 48% water used served for the demand of industries, the next largest section which accounted 39% of water consumed is agriculture. However, more than half of this resource utilized in South America was provided to planting purpose and just on-ten of the water was used for developing industries. In Europe, the percentages of water consumed for domestic use and agricultural use accounted 15% and 32% respectively.
More specifically, in Asia considerable proportions of water was utilized for agricultural demand (88% in the Central, 81% in the South East). The amount of water consumed for industrial use in South East Asia was more than two times that used for this purpose in Central Asia (12% and 5% respectively). However, these regions used similar percentages of this resource for domestic demand. In Africa, water was utilized mainly for developing agriculture (84%) and the proportions of this resource used for domestic purpose and industrial target were 9% and 7% respectively.
