The pie charts illustrate the proportion of sodium, saturated fats and added sugars in four types of meals in the USA

The Pie chart describes the percentage intake of sodium, saturated fat and added sugar consumed by an average American in their breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. These nutrients if consumed too much may be unhealthy.

Overall, sodium and saturated fat content are highest in dinner followed by lunch, snacks and breakfast. The amount of added sugar is significantly more in snacks followed by dinner, lunch and breakfast. An average American consumes fewer amounts of these nutrients in their breakfast compared to lunch or dinner.

In the first chart, sodium is most eaten during dinner which is about 43 per cent. The quantity of sodium consumed while eating lunch is 29 per cent. Breakfast and snacks contain an equal amount of sodium which is 14 per cent.

In the second chart, saturated fat continues the same trend where the majority of the fat is consumed during dinner which accounts for 37 per cent. The percentage quantity of fat in lunch was reported as 26 per cent. Although saturated fat follows the same trend with dinner and lunch, the trend is discontinued in the percentage of fat in breakfast and snacks which is 16 and 21 per cent respectively.

In the last chart, added sugar is mostly available in snacks which are 42 per cent. Dinner, lunch and breakfast consist of 23, 19 and 16 per cent sequentially.
