Overall, home and library saw upward trends in the proportion of Internet users, while the contrasting trends happened to the other two locations. Specially, home was the most favourite place for those who connected to the Internet during the period.
In 1998, about 53% of people using the Internet at home, which was more five times than that of library. These two figures all fluctuated throughout the years shown. In detail, in 2000, the percentage of users connecting to the Internet at home decreased by around 5% before gradually increasing and reaching the peak of approximately 55% in 2004. The figure for library rose marginally to about 15% in 2000 before slightly dropping to roughly 13% in the end of the period.
In terms of work and college, in 1998 the proportions of people using the Internet were nearly 30% and 20%, respectively. However, after 6 years, work became the place that least people accessed to the Internet, at just 10%, whereas the figure for college was higher , at around 18%.
