First of all, 900 million people speak Mandarin Chinese as a mother tongue, while there is 190 million people use it as a second language, making Chinese is the most used language in the world. However, there are around a billion people who speak Hindi, Spanish and English as a first language, 300 - 370 million for each country. Interestingly, the number of foreigners that speak English stands out among the other 5 languages, with 603 million. Therefore, total speakers 942 million people making English is the second on the list.
