The chart shows the figures for eight different household goods possessed by families living in Britain over a period of eight years.

It is clear that there is an upward trend seen in the ownership of all the goods, amongst them, the most popularly possessed is the television. Dishwasher was, however, the least popular item possessed during the given period, while highest increase was seen in the possession of central heating.

In 1972, 93% British families owned a television, which remained a popular gadget throughout the period reaching its peak in 1983(98%). Being second most favourite amongst goods, vacuum cleaner and refrigerator shows a similar trend in their ownership, having an increase of about 10% and 20% respectively by the year 1982. Central heating, however, saw a significant rise of about 30% in eight years.

Washing machine and telephone shows and upward trend in their popularity over the years, reaching nearly similar consumption figures in 1983 (i.e 80% and 70% respectively). Dishwasher, being least favourite item remained 5% and below throughout the years.
