The chart depicts the changes in the number of 3 kinds of crime cases in the city centre of Manchester during the period 2003 to 2012.
Overall, burglary cases dropped while car theft tended to rise gradually and robberies fluctuated.
In 2003, the number of burglaries slightly rose and reached its peak at 3700 cases in 2004 before it dropped considerably, at about only over 1000 cases in 2008. The number of cases started to rise in 2009, with nearly 1500 cases and fluctuated until 2012. Following a slight decrease between 2004 and 2006, car theft has increased gradually and reached its peak at about 2800 cases in 2012. Robbery had a contrast figure compared to car theft, after it rose steadily from over 500 to nearly 1000 during the period of 2003 and 2005. As of 2012, the number remained between 500 and 600 cases after falling down in 2006 and remaining stable at around 500-600 cases.
