People learn in different ways. Some people learn by doing things; other people learn by reading about things; others learn by listening to people talk about things. Which of these methods of learning is best for you? Use specific examples to support your choice.

In my opinion, best way to learn is by doing things. This because everyone has different ways of doing things, listening and reading does not give the complete picture of situation and learning by doing things gives satisfaction.

First, everyone has different ways of doing things and activities. Every individual is different in terms of its habits, strengths, weaknesses and other soft skills; as a result, manner in which a person performs an activity is different from others. Therefore, learning by listening or reading about other people might not work in other person's case. For example, once my manager told me his past failure story where had failed to achieve a big contract in his previous company and he wanted me to work on the shortcomings in that past deal in planning for the current deal in our present company. However, the subsequent changes that were implemented by me , considering the learnings of my boss from his last failure, failed to make any successful impact. This was beacuse my methods of making presentations was different from that of my boss.

Second, listening and reading does not give the complete picture of the situations from where we desire to learn. For example, my brother narrated the major reason behind his poor performance in board exams as his inability to study early morning; hence, he advised me to prefer studying late night. He ignored other factors, which could have distracted him from studying in morning like inability to get up early, sleeping late, poor atmosphere to study etc. But, in my case the situation and external conditions were different- I prefered to study early morning as it was apt for mu routine and helped me to avoid late night distractions caused be neighborhood parties. Therefore, learnings should not be blindly be incorporated as situations can be different.

Finally, learning by doing things gives satisfaction, self confidence and assurance. There are people who give up before trying a difficult task and just assume the reasons for failure and subsequent learnings. But, this behavior does not give them the required sense of satisfaction of trying and feeling of not giving up in tough times. In addition, learnings by doing things gives an opportunity to learn greater number of things, thereby giving self satisfaction of learning and improving. For example, failure on a company project gave me an opportunity to learn about dealing with people, managing time, planning effectively and exact technical reasons for failure. Therefore, lessons learnt by doing things are of immense value.

In summary, everyone has a differnt approach of learning; some prefer to listen and read stories of other people and try to emulate the lessons in their life. In contrast, I believe in doing things as it enables me to learn more and learn according to real life situations, which are prevalent in my life.
