Some students prefer classes with frequent discussions between the professor and the students with almost no lectures Other students prefer classes with many lectures and almost no discussions Which do you prefer Use specific reasons and examples to suppo

Every student is different. Different in various perspective. Similarly, every student has their own way of learning. Some prefer to take classes with frequent discussions and no lectures. However, I feel comfortable with classes with lectures and almost no discussions.

Firstly, I am an introvert person and talking in front of the whole class has never been a cup of tea for me. Therefore, most of the time I have avoided taking part in my class activities. The language barrier and shy nature of a student often lets him to avoid taking part in the discussions. Moreover, as I recollect my school days, many of my friends has face difficulties similar to mine. Therefore, classes with lecture and no discussion is a better option.

Secondly, the teachers are shouldered with the responsibilities to impart their knowledge on us. Merely discussing with students can only be advantageous to few students who are vocal and intellectual. This particular method of discussing with the students will only help those students who are already intellectual, ignoring the majority of students who needs the utmost attention. Therefore, imparting lecture with less discussion will help all the students.

Thirdly, encouraging class discussion will lead to deterioration of class decorum as some mischievous students will just be shouting in the pretext of discussion. This will eventually effect the learning environment and learning mindset of the whole class at large.

The lecture method with less discussion has been practice for long and is a century long educational tradition. The method has produced lots of intellectuals which has proven productive to the world. Therefore, I personally feel that classes with only discussion and few lectures will be a threat to the education system in the long run.
