professors are good to appear on TV or not.

Essay topics:

professors are good to appear on TV or not.

The lecture and the reading passage is about the appearance or participation of professors on TV. The reading passage gives its three reasons to support the idea of participation of university professors on TV. While the lecture contradicts all of it's three reasons of support and give three reasons those are totally against the reading passage.

Firstly, the reading passage claims that if professors those are found in classrooms, libraries and busy in doing research, if they appear on TV and give their expert opinions in different TV programs, these programs will be of great importance and will benefit the general public. In contrast the lecture contradicts this statement and states that, it has disadvantages and this appearance on TV will not give good reputation to that professor and he won't be able to get invitations from the conferences.

Secondly the passage posits that if the professor from any university will appear on TV, that university will get more and more donations and positive publicity and will get more students applications. The professor opposes this idea and claims that TV appearance will be very time consuming, which can waste professor's time. Especially rehearsal, camera makeups and many other issues which can effect the time of the professor, that time can be beneficial for the students and can be good for research. In result the benefits which can be given to student can be spoiled.

Finally, the reading passage states that, the viewers can get a taste of real expertise and can get insight if any professor appears on TV screen, this idea is opposed by professor, by this statement that all the history and other infos can be given by any reporter, so its not necessary that professor should visit any TV program.
