The article states that young people are reading less literature than they used to read earlier which is affecting the reading public, culture, and future of it. It provides three reasons for support. However, the professor of the lecture explains that this may true but the young people using their time doing other things which have great importance and refutes each of the author's reason.

First, the reading claims that the decline of reading a literature book, the reading public is missing out its intellectual important benefits. The professor refutes this point by stating that they are reading some scientific studies, creative novels. And sometimes it requires some intellectual and good understanding. So, young people are not missing the intellectual stimulation and imagination benefits.

Second, the article posits that they are reading some superficial, poorly written self-help books which do not require intellectual demanding and challenges. This is declining the level of culture in general. However, the professor contends that it is not true. They are using their time by watching brilliant music, movies which are plenty on television.

Third, the reading avers that the trend of reading less literature is the reason for making less literature nowadays and publisher doing less support the serious literature writers. The lecture opposes this point by saying that it may true but not always. It can be true that less literature is produced because of less talented writers not lack of audience.
